The Animation Department of MOME plays an important role in many international educational projects which are sponsored by the EU MEDIA programme. The projects all have different themes to work on, but are identical in respect of the fact that they are jointly organized by renowned European universities.
The first programme started in 2008 and since then MOME Animation has already worked together with ten film schools, thus allowing the university to be up to date with the European audio-visual trends.
ASF - Animation Sans Frontieres
Animation Sans Frontières is a lecture/workshop-based supplementary training programme designed to give European graduate-level animation film and production students an understanding of the fine art and the business of getting an idea onto a screen.
With the support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Community, Animation Sans Frontières is an 8-week programme run by and at, in order of appearance, 4 prestigious European animation film schools:
Together these 4 partner schools aim at strengthening networks between the European animation industry and young European students and recent graduates.
ESSEMBLE
ESSEMBLE is a unique European training and development project promoted by four European film and Media schools: Universidade Lusófona (ULHT), Film, Video and Multimedia Department, Lisbon, Portugal; Sint-Lukas Brussels University College of Art and Design, Brussels, Belgium; Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), Budapest, Hungary, and ifs international film school, Cologne, Germany.
ESSEMBLE intends to provide both film and animation students with basic and advance competences concerning new production and distribution techniques and strategies without, on one side, neglecting the essential role script development has for both forms of art, while on the other side, clearly focusing on the development of new concepts that mixes stereoscopic 3d images with live footage.
The main goal of the project is the co-development of four short-fiction films between the partner schools involved in the project based on one single original script – each school will interpret, according with its own training strategy and cultural background, one commonly developed script based on the theme: "Traces of immigration and nomadism in today's Europe".
The project is organized along a 4X4X4 structure. This means:
4 live Workshops - Each workshop takes place in one different school. Story Development (Cologne, Germany); Development of Visual Style and Storyboarding (Budapest, Hungary); Digital Cinematography (Brussels, Belgium); Stereoscopic and Motion Capture for Visual Effects (Lisbon, Portugal); Plus one module online dedicated to Post-Production and Finishing.
4 films – each film is produced by a team of 20 elements. In each school a group of 5 students from both film and animation will be involved and divided accordingly with their areas of expertise by all modules.
Transform@Lab
TransformatLab is an elite workshop-based training programme designed to give graduate-level creative media students from across Europe the chance to develop and pitch cross-platform ideas in an intensive development lab.
With MEDIA support and co-ordinated by Skillset Media Academy Wales, TransformatLab is a 20 day programme which will take place over four months at three prestigious European media schools:

Nine participants will travel to each of the host universities for an eclectic programme of masterclasses, development labs, networking events and studio visits, with hands-on support and mentoring from University tutors and leading names in European new media practice.
At the end of training scheme, participants will be inspired and armed with new skills and new contacts, at which point they will have the opportunity to pitch to commissioners, production companies and development bodies working in the cross-platform industry.
EUCROMA - European Cross Media Academy
EUCROMA is an international training program in development of cross / transmedia projects, which integrate digital animation and games. The training brings together talented European students to learn key development methods and innovative collaboration routines. Three types of training are instrumental to the training: Storyworld development; Pipeline training; Cross / transmedia collaboration.
The programme consists of a five month long intense workshop run from Monday 4th of February 2013 at the EUCROMA Copenhagen studio and ends on Friday 31st of May. Students are organised in different study groups and development teams according to five types of roles: Concept groups; Production groups; Animation teams; Game teams; Focus study groups.

A4C - Adapting for Cinema
Adapting for Cinema is a workshop focused on the concept of adaptation, from literature to cinema. 12 European participants (4 producers, 4 writers, 4 visual artists) with the support of professional trainers work together in different groups with the mission of adapting 4 books for the screen.
The training is set in three different locations
1) a first workshop on the theory of adaptation (4 days in Turin, November 2012);
2) a second meeting based on pitching technic training, storyboarding and visual style development (4 days in Budapest, February 2013);
3) and a final presentation of the works to a panel of European producers (2 days in London, April 2013)
